Pumpkin Spice Sugar Scrub

Wanna smell like pumpkin spice and have ya skin feel nice? We got you! We made an exfoliating but nourishing pumpkin spice body scrub! This scrub includes sunflower oil, jojoba oil, brown sugar, honey, and Nature’s Flavors Organic Pumpkin Spice Fragrance Powder. All of the ingredients that we used for this scrub have amazing benefits for your skin. Here’s a quick breakdown of them:

Sunflower Oil Is;

  • non-comedogenic! This means it will moisturize your skin without clogging your pores.
  • rich in Vitamin E! Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps protect your skin against free radicals.
  • amazing at protecting your skin’s natural barrier. Sunflower oil contains an element named Linoleic acid which can help your skin retain moisture and protect it against germs and bacteria.

Jojoba Oil Is;

  • a natural humectant! This means it helps your skin retain moisture by creating a protective barrier.
  • a sebum controller. Jojoba oil is similar to the sebum produced by your body naturally. It sends a signal to your hair and sweat follicles letting them know that no more sebum is needed
  • also non-comedogenic. No clogged pores here!

Brown Sugar Is;

  • the perfect exfoliator. Brown sugar helps molecules deeply penetrate the skin which loosens bonds of skin cells. This promotes new cell growth reveling healthier skin.
  • a natural humectant. It keeps your skin beautiful and moisturized!
  • very moisturizing! Even though brown sugar removes dead skin cells, its properties keep your skin hydrated and supple.

Honey Is;

  • anti-microbial. It helps your skin fight against infections.
  • great at fading scars! Since honey is rich in antioxidants, it helps repair and nourish damaged skin.
  • extremely hydrating! Making it the perfect addition to any body scrub!

The Process

For this sugar scrub you’ll need, a medium mixing bowl, measuring cups, measuring spoons, a spatula, and a container to store your scrub in. As we mentioned earlier, we used brown sugar (2 cups), sunflower oil (½ cup), jojoba oil (½ cup), honey (1 tablespoon), and our Organic Pumpkin Spice Fragrance Powder (½ teaspoon).

Apple Pie Lip Scrub

Our Apple Pie Lip Scrub is the perfect addition to our fall recipes and DIY’s! We’ll slowly start to incorporate more autumn flavors and fragrances into our projects because we’re all about the season. The weather will slowly begin to cool and that usually means we get dry skin. Using a nourishing, yet exfoliating lip scrub can help shed away the dead skin to reveal more plump and beautiful lips. We decided to use our Natural Apple Pie flavor oil for this project because apple pie screams fall Lets begin.

The Process

  1. To begin, you’ll need a small mixing bowl, measuring spoons, dropper, and a spoon to mix.
a mixing bowl

2. Begin by pouring 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar onto a small mixing bowl. If you’d like your lip scrub to be a thicker consistency, feel free to add 1/2 a teaspoon more of granulated sugar. (More sugar = thicker, more oil = runnier)

3. Next, add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil into your mixture.

Cardboard Shreds: Benefits + Uses

If you’ve ever ordered products from us, you may have noticed we use cardboard shreds to package our goods. We stay away from styrofoam packing materials because we understand how detrimental styrofoam can be to our bodies and the environment. We strive to be a clean and green company for our employees, our environment, and you! Before we go over the many ways you can use cardboard shreds, we’d like to discuss its benefits too!

THE BENEFITS

Unlike styrofoam, cardboard is 100% recyclable and biodegradable! The majority of cardboard has the ability to completely degrade in as little as three months. This is environmentally awesome since styrofoam cannot be broken down at all! Styrofoam can only be recycled to make more styrofoam creating a never ending cycle and more harm to our planet. Based on our research, cardboard is a material with one of the least environmental impacts on our planet. When manufactured, emissions and CO2 levels are reduced by 60% compared to other materials. We love protecting our planet!

cardboard shreds can be recycled!

THE USES

Cardboard shreds are not only better for our planet but they can be used in a lot more ways than you might think!

  • Packaging
    • Cardboard shreds can cushion fragile items making it an ideal packaging product.
    • Using cardboard instead of styrofoam in packaging makes a difference! Consider all the packages that are delivered around the world. Now that’s a lot of packaging. And if every business used cardboard shreds instead of styrofoam, our little planet would thank us!
  • Animal bedding for pets and livestock
    • Cardboard shreds can be comfortable and fun for animals to lay on. It’s the perfect type of bedding! Use it for your cats, hamsters, guinea pigs, and more!
  • Fire starters
    • You can stuff cardboard shreds into toilet paper tubes to create a fire starter. It’s great for backyard fire-pits, fireplaces, and camping!
  • Composting
    • Cardboard can be a useful material when gardening because it’s rich in carbon. The carbon helps balance the compost which improves soil quality and suppresses weeds. Learn how to compost cardboard here.

Vanilla Coffee Lotion Bars

Who has two thumbs and hates a heatwave? ALL OF US! The heat at the moment is unbearable and it causes profuse sweating on our face, which attracts pollutants in the air, germs, and other horrible microscopic things just like a magnet. The dirt and grime clog our pores which means… you guessed… acne for a longer period of time. Ugh, none of us want that!

Thankfully, Nature’s Flavors is here to save your day from boredom and pimples with these Vanilla Coffee Lotion Bars recipe we just made!

They’re made from natural and organic ingredients, and they’re amazing for your skin.

Here are the many benefits of coffee beans for your skincare:

Coffee is full of antioxidants, polyphenols, stimulants, and chlorogenic acids (the caffeine). Antioxidants protect your skin by reducing pigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles to help keep you looking younger and radiant. Polyphenols can act as a sunscreen and protect your skin from UV rays. These two ingredients combined will exfoliate your skin, serve as an acne treatment, and protect you from UV rays (please continue to wear sunscreen; the intake of polyphenols will not replace sunscreen).

LET’S MAKE SOME LOTION BARS!

Start by setting the stove or hot plate to a low heat and place the bowl on the appliance (the bowl should be empty). In separate small bowls, put the beeswax and cocoa butter in the microwave for 30 seconds to 1 minute.

Pour the beeswax and cocoa butter into the medium bowl on the appliance. Add the sunflower oil, vanilla fragrance oil, and golden jojoba oil. The liquid in the bowl will look a dark yellow.

Use a spoon to stir and mix all of the ingredients together. The liquid should be ready after a couple of minutes.

Use a towel or mitten to carefully remove the bowl from the appliance. Pour the liquid into the silicone molds. Fill a quarter of the molds and put in as many coffee beans as you would like. Place the silicone molds in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to cool them off. This is the first layer of the lotion bars.

After the 10 minutes, take the molds out of the refrigerator. Pour the rest of the liquid into the molds and add more coffee beans. Put the molds back into the refrigerator and wait 1 hour.

Take the molds out of the refrigerator and voilà! You just made yourself some DIY Vanilla Coffee Lotion Bars!
