Latest Trends: TikTok, Papaya, & Parasites

Do you suspect that you have a parasite living inside of you? Maybe you’re nauseous all the time, have constant diarrhea, or can’t seem to get rid of a headache. Here at Nature’s Flavors, we are all about being natural, but sometimes natural remedies can do more harm than good.

The good news is that all of those symptoms are non-specific, meaning that they might be pointing to a less serious situation or illness. However, you may have been scrolling through TikTok one day and come across someone else with these same symptoms, and they tell you that it’s…. parasites! 🤢

While they may be offering up some great advice on how to get rid of them, such as eating some papaya seeds, don’t scare yourself too much. In fact, it is actually highly unlikely for you to actually have a parasitic infection. A point often overlooked when it comes to social media is that you should never self-diagnose. If you ever think something is wrong, your best bet is to give your doctor a visit. Papaya seeds are natural, however, these types of infections should only be treated with anti-worm medication.

Parasites

Now that we’ve covered what not to do, let’s talk about those parasites and papaya seeds! Parasites are little organisms that live on or inside a host organism. If you ever do develop a parasitic infection, you would be considered the host. Parasites eat any glucose you consume, which is a part of most diets. The most common, human parasites are protozoa, giardia, helminths, and tapeworms. They may sound super scary, but they are far more common in tropical countries than they are in the U.S.

Papaya

Now let talk a little bit about those papaya seeds. Papaya in general is absolutely packed with nutrients, including Vitamin A and C, as well as fiber and healthy fats. This makes papaya great for helping with digestive disorders, but it should not be depended on. In fact, consuming too many papaya seeds at one time can increase nausea, headaches, and diarrhea, which doesn’t help you out at all!

The Bottom Line

All in all, you have to be very careful with what you believe on social media. We all have stumbled upon helpful tips through our use of social media, but that doesn’t mean you should believe everything you see. Natural and holistic healing is one of the things we do best here over at Nature’s Flavors, but we highly encourage researching everything before trying it.

Essential Oils that Will Defeat Allergy Season!

Many of us suffer from allergies. The sneezing, the watery eyes, the runny nose…it’s literally the worst! Luckily, here at Nature’s Flavors, holistic health is naturally embedded into our products. Let’s talk about a few essential oils that will help you conquer allergy season!

Which Essential Oils Should I Use?

The first oil is an oldie but a goodie! It’s literally the one essential oil that we all know and love… lavender! Undoubtedly, lavender is the solution to all of our problems. Well, just kidding, but it is pretty amazing. In addition to allergies, lavender helps with sleeplessness, stress, and even disinfecting! When it comes to allergies, lavender will provide you with relief because of its anti-inflammatory properties. Basically, if lavender was a superpower, I would want it to be mine.

Next up is a dreamy blend of ravensara, sandalwood, and frankincense essential oil. This combination will help your allergy symptoms by relieving those itchy and runny noses. Moreover, these essential oils will unblock stubborn nasal passages and stop the annoying sneezing.

Eucalyptus oil is another anti-inflammatory that is great for allergies! In addition to tea tree, you can use peppermint and lemon essential oil to help you find that allergy relief you’re looking for.

How Do I Use Them?

We have definitely talked about aromatherapy here on the blog before in regard to stress, sleep issues, and even aches and pains. The same method can be used for allergy relief. After reading the list above, pick out a few of those essential oils and throw them in a diffuser with some water. Depending on the size of your diffuser and the size of your room (or house), the diffuser will fill your space with those essential oils. Not only will it smell realllyyyyyy good, but you will be reaping the benefits of the various properties within the essential oils. This is what’s going to ultimately help you feel some allergy relief.

Occasionally, you may want to switch up the way you use your essential oils. No problem! All you have to do is purchase a carrier oil such as almond or jojoba, and add your essential oils to it. This turns your usual diffuser cocktail into a versatile body oil. Furthermore, you can add drops of your essential oils to bath salts, body wash, or even your favorite lotion. This way, you can get some allergy relief in the morning after your shower or when you are winding down with a bath.

The Bottom Line

Essential oils are great for allergy relief! They are all-natural and can provide you with more benefits than just allergy relief. Shop our all-natural and organic essential oils here. 😉

Turn It Off: How To Conserve The Planet’s Energy

As Earth Day gets closer, the team here at Nature’s Flavors wants to keep sharing tips on how to love our planet! While recycling might be the first thing to come to mind, saving electricity is super important.

What Does Saving Electricity Do?

Surprisingly, when we make an effort to conserve electricity, it has a huge domino effect. It affects the air we breathe, our water, and the environment around us. Basically, by saving energy, we reduce both water and air resources which in turn, reduces our use of natural resources. Keep in mind, natural resources are not unlimited.

Energy + Pollution = ?

Air pollution is an overwhelming problem for our planet. In order to meet the global demand for energy, we burn what are called “fossil fuels”. For instance, we burn gas, coal, and oil in order to produce energy. In effect, this energy fuels everyday things such as cars, heating systems, and kitchens. As well as resourceful places such as power plants and factories.

By the same token, these fossil fuels are detrimental to human health and development. Constant inhalation of this air pollution can lead to asthma, lung cancer, heart attacks, and even poor brain development.

How Can I Help?

There are sooooo many ways to conserve energy, but we thought we’d give you the top 5 easiest ways to do this!

First, switch out all of your regular lightbulbs for LED ones! Standard lightbulbs waste 95% of the energy they use just to produce heat, which is SUCH a waste.

Second, set all of your computers and as many electronic devices as you can to hibernate or fall asleep. That way, if you walk away from the computer for a long period of time, it will reduce the amount of energy it’s using in idle.

Third, wash your clothes in cold water! Washing machines and laundry detergents work best with cold water, therefore saving you some money.

Fourth, regularly clean your appliances. Most washers, dryers, dishwashers, etc., have some sort of filter or drain that needs to be cleaned regularly. Leaving these parts of the appliances dirty overtime will just make them work harder which makes them use more energy.

Fifth, unplug everything you can when you aren’t using it! Idle energy usage is a real thing and can totally be avoided. Not to mention doing a combination of everything can significantly lower your electricity bill! I mean, who doesn’t love saving money?

Bottom Line

There’s a lot we can do to help save energy, and it doesn’t have to be too difficult. If you’re interested in what else you can do to show our planet some love, check out Everyday Sustainability: Tips To Help Our Planet.
