Natural food coloring powders are practical since they are a dry based-product, just like sugar. Because of their similar bases, evenly distributing the coloring powder to the sugar is an easy process.

DIY Colored Sugar for Cotton Candy

Making colored sugar for cotton candy is easy with natural food coloring powders. Mix the sugar and coloring into a bowl. Ensure the color is evenly distributed before placing the colored sugar into the cotton candy machine.

Equipment

  • 1 Cotton Candy Machine
  • 1 Medium mixing bowl
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Whisk

Instructions

  • Place the floss sugar and food coloring powder in a large mixing bowl. Whisk the two dry ingredients together until the color is evenly distributed. This can take a couple of minutes.
  • Do not blend. Blending or using an electric whisk will turn the sugar into powdered sugar.
  • Once the color is evenly distributed, add 1 tbsp into the middle of the machine. Be sure to follow the machine's instructions for proper use. 

Notes

Tip: Using another 1/4 tsp may impart flavoring due to the natural elements of our natural food coloring.
